Two disciples walking to Emmaus after Jesus' crucifixion had lost hope despite knowing all the facts about his resurrection. When Jesus joined them unrecognized, he turned them to Scripture to restore their faith. Through God's Word, their hearts burned within them, their eyes were opened to recognize Christ, and they were compelled to share the good news. This story teaches us that when hope fades, we must return to the unchanging truth of Scripture, which invites Jesus into our lives, opens our hearts to recognize his presence, and compels us to share his love with others.
